Anne Uusen

is Associate Professor of Mother Tongue Didactics in the Department of Teacher Education at the Tallinn University (Estonia). She reads lectures of mother tongue didactics and basic didactics to future class teachers more than 10 years. The same long period she has supervised students research works in several level: bachelor and master. She has been actively involved with in-service training courses for teachers. Her research field is mother tongue teaching: listening, speaking, reading and writing skills of middle school pupils in Estonia, but also general teaching skills. She is the member of Estonian Academical Pedagogical Society, Mother Tongue Teachers´ Society, International Reading Association, Estonian Reading Association and the member of the Board of Mother Tongue Teaching in Estonia. She has been involved with several research projects connected with teaching and learning environment in Estonia and Finland, integrated subjects teaching etc. in Estonia and she is the author of more than 50 scientific articles, monographs and text books for primary school.

 

Krista Kerge

is an associate professor of general and applied linguistics at the Tallinn University and a docent of legal language in Tartu University. Chairperson of the state board of mother tongue teaching, superior of the Mother Tongue Teaching Centre, member of the language board by Mother Tongue Society, member of the board of the Estonian Society of Applied Linguistics, member of the expert commission for foreign language teaching by State Examination Centre, etc. Married, 3 children, 3 grandchildren. Main areas of interest: text analysis (text complicacy, individual style, contextuality), linguistic varieties, L1 and L2 acquisition and teaching, applied linguistics in general (legal language; polite and relevant institutional communication, adult literacy, etc). About 60 acad. articles plus 12 monographs and (co)authorized manuals in linguistics and applied linguistics; about 60 papers in newspapers, cultural weekly, teachers weekly and national broadcast.
