Project CRISS

Project CRISS (Creating Independence through Student-owned Strategies) is a privately held in-service teacher training company with focus on content area literacy in Kalispell, Montana. Carol Santa, Ph.D. is one of the owners of the company. The Project CRISS National Office employs 6 full time staff and oversees 54 National Trainers, who live in various parts of the United States. We also have 1362 District Trainers eligible to do workshops in their local schools. During 2008-2009, CRISS National and District trainers have conducted inservice for 10,201 teachers in the United States, Canada, and in Norway. Because of research documenting the effectiveness of the project to increase student achievement, Project CRISS became a national project funded for ten years by the U.S. Department of Education.
